4 Weeks Old!

It is hard to believe that the twins are already 4 weeks old! I was looking at the calendar yesterday ... I had marked the date I was supposed to go in for a C-Section (May 19th) ... the twins had other plans! I thought at the time "Maybe if I mark the date I will make it to 38 weeks" ... not so much!

With that the twins are doing fantastic for making their debut at 34 weeks. We had their 1 Month check up this past Monday. Here are the Stats:

Dakota - 6lbs 1oz, height 18 3/4 inches, head circumference 13 1/4 inches
Jaxson - 5lbs 13 oz, height 18 1/2 inches, head circumference 13 1/4 inches

They are still being plotted on the preemie chart but the doctor said they are probably somewhere in the 5th percentile for growth on the full term chart ... we are getting somewhere!
They are staying on a very strict eating schedule, taking a bottle every 3 hrs. We were waking them at night to keep on the schedule but now they wake us! It is a very good sign that they are starting to actually want to eat. Now it does not feel like we are forcing food.

They both certainly have their own personalities. Jaxson is our little talker, he will stay up much longer after a feeding and make tons of noises to let us know he is still wide awake. Dakota would much rather go to sleep right after she eats and choose one or two times during the day to stay up and play. They are sleeping good at night right now. We were given the okay to let them go 4hrs between one feeding at night. We have tried that twice now but they don't seem to want to go much longer than 3hrs 30minutes ... still the extra 30 minutes of sleep is nice!

Jaxson does not like to get his picture taken and will grunt, close his eyes and try his best to get his hand right over his face! Dakota does not mind but it is not easy to get her to stay awake long enough to get a picture with her eyes open.

Here are a few from the past week. You can tell Jaxson is gaining weight on his sister ... look at those cheeks now!

They were both awake but Jaxson knows just when to close his eyes before I take a picture! Dakota let me play dress up (we are just getting started!)

Jaxson no longer likes to have his hands wrapped up in his blanket ...

Dakota in sleep mode after a feeding. I was trying to keep her awake for at least 30 minutes but this comfortable seat did not help much :)

Nap time with Daddy! Too cute!
Tyson is doing well. We have kept him at school during the week so he did not feel like his world was turned completely upside down. He loves to help with the babies. He runs right in the house and checks the pack n play to make sure the babies are still here. His teachers tell us he talks about them at school (mainly Jaxson.) He tries so hard to be gentle with them but most of the time does not know his own strength. We struggle some days but we knew it would not be easy! We can tell he is fighting for our attention, but what else would you expect from a 2 year old!
We will keep the updates coming .... Have a great week!!
